Survivor Filter Pro Water Purification System for Survival Using

The Survivor Filter Pro Water Purification System filter pro portable water filter pump is the best of its kind on the market today. With a filtration level to an unbelievable 0.01 microns, the highest level available on the market today for any kind of portable water filter. Proven 0.01 micron protection against tested virus, bacteria, parasites, while reducing most heavy metals and improving water taste. Water purification is a bit of an obsession of mine.  Whether you are planning a backpacking trip or prepping for disaster, clean water is essential. I’ve tried a bunch of water filters, including the Sawyer Mini, Katadyn Pocket, and LifeStraw. I’ve recently discovered the Survivor Filter Pro.

The Survivor Filter PRO is a 3-stage water filter that removes bacteria, protozoa, and other harmful particles from water. While I don’t know much about the company which makes it, they have independently tested the PRO at the certified Intertek labs in Ohio and it scores very highly in all categories. Overall, the PRO has really good reviews from users and a satisfaction guarantee.

Hydration is one of the most important considerations when it comes to emergency preparedness. Clean potable water is vital to our survival, but it is often not readily available in most outdoor and urban environments. In an emergency situation, there may be a need to look at unsafe sources for water that only boiling or a quality filter can render safe to drink.

Using the Survivor Filter PRO is very easy.  You put the input tube into any freshwater source (fresh = not seawater). You can even adjust the floater on the tube so the straw doesn’t go onto the bottom of the water where all the grime is.

The output tube goes into your water bottle.

Question & Answer:

Question: Does this filter viruses?

Answer: According to their literature, they filter down to 0.01 microns, which is 10 nanometers (billionth’s of a meter). I looked up viruses, and viruses vary in size from 20 to 400 namometers.

Question: Your literature says ” removes contaminants from Fresh Water”. What about algae covered ponds and swimming pools?

Answer: Fresh water is considered to be any water source but salt water. 0.01 Microns will remove just about anything including viruses.

Question: Is the “ultra filter” just another name for hollow-fiber membrane filter? if not, what is the material in the “uf”?

Answer: Hello VL, thanks for your question. The Ultra Filter is indeed another name for a hollow-fiber membrane filter and all our ultra filters.

Question: does it produce only h2o

Answer: Hello Kenneth, the device is really designed to filter fresh water found in lakes, rivers and streams and water coming from a tap..

Question: Can you provide the independent test results of the filtering capabilities?

Answer: Hello Samuel, we have an independent report done at Intertek’s Columbus Ohio facility. They are available here: http://www.survivorfilter.com/pages/product-testing-reports .

Question: 10-29-2015: Please compare this unit with a Lifestraw.

Answer: LifeStraw’s filters only filter down to a pore size of 0.02 microns.

Answer: This is just my opinion, but the lifestraw family is more of a tool where water is convenient. The pumps are more for stored water procurement. Hiking long distance in the desert and in arid mountain regions is where I’m using my pump.
Question: What is the difference between the two filters, ultra and carbon?

Answer: Carbon filters contain activated carbon which will adsorb organic molecules from the water. Things that might cause the water to have a peculiar taste or smell will be removed by this filter. The ultra-filter contains a porous filter media which will filter out particles that are larger than 0.01 Microns.

Question: how well does it take out chlorine & fluoride from tap water

Answer: Hi Denise, This filter takes out anything and leaves pure water and only pure water. I have a central filter system filtering all the water in my house which costs several hundred dollars.
