The Best Salomon X Ultra 3 Gtx Hiking Boot

The Salomon X Ultra 3 Mid Gtx offers the comfort of a low-top running shoe while providing the support of a high-top hiking boot. These mid-top boots are becoming increasingly popular, and for good reason – hiking gear is becoming lighter and lighter each year, and as hikers shed weight from their packs, many find that they no longer need the support of a heavy-duty boot (though some still may prefer the added stability of a taller boot). We enjoyed using these on long-distance hikes such as the Sierra High Route, where weight is important, but performance cannot be sacrificed.

Right out of the box, the X Ultra Mid 3 GTX locks the foot into place through a speed lacing system as well as a padded collar that securely and comfortably wraps around the ankle. Salomon calls this their Sensifit system and is meant to give a customized, comfortable fit. With a fit true to size, the toe box is roomy enough to wiggle your toes, but not so wide to result in a sloppy fit. The predominantly nylon (and suede) outer flexes easily, without the necessary break-in period common to many hiking boots.

It’s a summer super star and stayed away from Gore-Tex protections in favour of staying quick on your feet. If you’re not planning on bouncing off of too much rough and tumble terrain, the X Ultra 3 has all the waterproofing and comfort of Salomon’s Quest line in a more lightweight and breathable package.

FAQ:

Question: What are the differences between this Ultra 3 and the Ultra 2? Thanks
Answer: These Ultra 3 boots are slimmer compared to the ultra 2. I have a 10.5EE (wides) in the Ultra 3s, and the sole is not even as wide as my old 10.5 Ultra 2s. Would suggest getting the wide if upgrading from Ultra 2s. As noted the lacing system now has two speed hood and the uppermost speed hook, is about 1/4 inch higher up. Heel traction pattern has also been changed. Other than that ..very similar in style and performance. My Ultra 2s lasted 4 years and many miles…and hoping for the sam

Question: Are this boots waterproof?
Answer: Yes. I backpacked through Ilse of Skye in Scotland for a few days, rained half of the time, marshes everywhere. The only time my socks/feet got wet were when (1) I forgot to wear my rain pants and rain soaked through my outdoor pants down my socks into the shoes and, (2) when I unknowingly stepped into a deep marsh that pushed the water over and into the shoes.

Question: Where are they made?
Answer: Made in India Purchased 08/20

Question: These shoes are narrow fit or wide ?
Answer: it’s not wide nor too narrow. I would say it is just fit. I am a Asian.

Question: I wear a 9.5 -10 in mens Merrill what size would fit properly?
Answer: I wear a 9.5 in most shoes and a 9.5 fits exactly as it should.

Question: Can you guarantee that these are 100% authentic Salomon brand and not some knock off pretend product?
Answer: I had a problem with a lace loop and Salomon warrantied them. I believe they are genuine and not some rat pelts some scammer put together to make a quick buck. Comfortable boots. Waterproof. Great with spikes for Winter hiking but marginal with snowshoes as the toe bed is not supportive enough for my bindings.

Question: How do these fit compared to Danner boots? My Danners are size 11.
Answer: I also wear danner, sizing is the same.

Question: I have purchased the item but my credit card got declined because of covid-19 and when i registered it again, the prices showed higher by a lot more ?
Answer: Santa makes these in workshop he is tired of the Covid thing so charges more sometimes.
